This adapter cable, makes you easier to route the USB-B Port out from the side of the device (say printer)! Also the straight cables are difficult to use when they jut out the back of the device, as its difficult to stack them near other devices. This cable provide a right angle connection so its harder to jam the connector when moving gear about, and easier to route the cable out of the way.
It can get difficult to unplug them when re-routing cabling since they are always in the back of the device, keyboard, etc.
